Paul R. Boggs Sr. founded Paul's Auto Sales in or just before 1956.  In 1967, after selling used and Ford vehicles, Paul signed a dealer agreement with Chrysler LLC to carry Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Eagle and Plymouth.  In 1978, the owners son, Paul "Dickie" Boggs Jr. was brought on board.  He was 16 years old and he started working as a salesman.  Over the years, Paul's Auto Sales flourished into a very successful business and was a huge asset to the community.  Rainelle, WV had a Chevrolet dealership and also a Ford dealership in addition to Paul's Auto Sales for many years.  However, after Interstate 64 was completed, there wasn't as much traffic on US Route 60.  After the Rainelle Lumber company went out of business and there was no longer any major employers left in the once thriving city.  Eventually, more and more businesses closed and only one car dealership remained... Paul's Auto Sales.

In 1990, Dickie's hard work and dedication had been rewarded when his title changed to General Manager.  The dealership was award winning in every way possible, from Chrysler's view to our customers view.  In 1996 we achieved the highest possible award from Chrysler, the Five-Star award.  Then in 1997, a fire destroyed our dealership and that was the beginning of an uncontrollable downward spiral.

Although no employees were laid off due to the fire, the fire devastated the community, the employees, and, more importantly, the owner.

Around 2003-04 Paul Sr. starting showing signs of Alzheimer's.  Those that knew him, knew he would never give up on anything.  July 30, 2008 was Paul Seniors last day at work at Paul's Auto Sales.  He was taken from us the morning of July 31st, 2008.

His wishes were to pass on the ownership and franchise agreement to his son and previous General Manager, Dickie.  However, on August 2, 2008, Dickie received a call from Chrysler LLC, placing him on "hold" with Chrysler Financial and Chrysler Motors.  After eight months, and an extensive audit of the dealership, Dickie was given the franchise agreement and was able to start doing business as normal.

During the "hold" Dickie started making many changes to build a stronger more technological company.  He started by hiring a new General Manager.  Paul "Ricky" Boggs III was a Ph.D. student in College Student Affairs Administration at the University of Georgia.  He has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Counseling, both from Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

In addition, Dickie was able to upgrade a number of things that were long overdue and he was also determined, and on track, to re-obtain Five Star status once again.  The Five-Star status was lost after the fire devastated the dealership. Dickie had his employees on the ball, they had already completed well over 50 hours of training in a very short time.

We were the epitome of “building a new car company" which is what Chrysler LLC was doing between 2008-2009 as well.  They were begging our government for billions of dollars to "build a new car company" and even after obtaining billions in bailout funds, they still entered bankruptcy.  Their main goal in bankruptcy, despite what you will read elsewhere, was to shed a quarter of their dealer body.  After having the franchise agreement for three months and one day, Dickie received a letter from Chrysler LLC. that he was chosen as one of the 789 dealers to lose his franchise agreement.

On July 10, 2009 we started our new journey in the used car business.  We were wronged by Chrysler LLC, after 4 decades of service and loyalty.  We apologize for their incompetence to our loyal customers, families and friends.  We look forward to your continued business with us, no matter what changes are made during these trying times.  As always, Thank You!  You are appreciated at Paul's Auto Sales LLC.
